Vote YES on Ballot Proposal 1 to Protect Our Lands and Waters

This Election Day, Southold voters can say yes to preserving what makes Southold special—its beautiful vistas, agricultural lands, trails, natural shoreline, and waters. On November 8th, vote YES on Proposal 1 to extend the Community Preservation Fund and authorize projects to reverse the nitrogen pollution that threatens our health, economy and way of life. This measure does not increase taxes. It simply extends the existing tax paid by buyers of real estate. Bonding against this revenue has allowed Southold to preserve 1,420 acres of farmland and 660 acres of open space since 1999.

The Southold Community Preservation Fund

  • Created waterfront parks like Sound View Dunes and preserved ecologically important areas like Pipe's Cove—a total of 121 projects since 1999

  • Preserved family farms to keep our food local and sustainable

  • Will help Southold meet its goal of preserving 80% of existing farmland

  • Will allow upgrades of cesspools and septic systems and fund other projects to reduce toxic algae blooms that kill fish and threaten our source of drinking water.

Continue to protect Southold's lands and waters. On November 8th, vote YES on Proposal 1.
